Altos Las Hormigas Malbec Classico
- Out of stock
Altos Las Hormigas is based in Lujan de Cuyo, one of Mendoza's best wine growing areas. Founded in 1995 by Italian winemakers Alberto Antonini and Antonio Morescalchi, the estate was one of the first in Argentina to concentrate on the Malbec grape instead of the more obvious Cabernet Sauvignon or Merlot varieties. Having spearheaded the development of Malbec as Argentina's signature grape, Altos Las Hormigas has also maintained a level of quality and innovation that sees it still regarded as one of the nation's top producers of Malbec.
The Malbec Classico is a fresh, dry but fruit-filled expression of the grape, made exclusively from fruit grown at the Lujan de Cuyo estate. As well as the dark berry fruit and hints of chocolate typical of Argentinian Malbec, this wine offers a complex mix of spice and smoke flavours, and the food-friendly supporting structure of ripe, fine-grained tannins.
