Besson Givry 1er Cru Les Grands Prétans 2008
- Out of stock
Xavier Besson took over the family seven hectare domaine in 1989. He immediately began to modernise the wine making and to restructure the vineyard. He was joined by his wife, Guillemette, in 1996. They now export 50% of their production – mainly to North America and Japan. They use 35% new oak for their 1er cru, which is harvested manually. Their 17th century cave is a classified historic monument and is quite spectacular. Matured one year in barrel, with 50% changed every year. Around 7,500 bottles a year are produced. The nose develops powerful notes of black fruit, cherry, spice with a touch of toasted oak. The body is very generous but smooth, with smooth tannins and a distinguished velvety finish.
