Fratelli Berlucchi Franciacorta Brut 2008
Situated between Milan and Brescia, Franciacorta is Italy's premier wine region for quality sparkling wine made in the traditional method. It is a relatively small area of 18,000 hectares, with only 1,500 hectares (split between some 200 growers) actually under vine. Berlucchi use only their own fruit, Unlike Champagne all of Berlucchi's Franciacorta DOCGs are the product of a single vintage. The Brut is an assemblage of Chardonnay & Pinot Bianco (90%) and Pinot Nero (10%). It has a lovely yeasty nose and is rich, creamy and dry in the mouth.
