Jean Tardy Chambolle-Musigny Les Athets 2002
- Out of stock
The ebullient Jean Tardy, in partnership with his son Guillaume, is a perfectionist and huge enthusiast of the wines of Burgundy. A visit to his cellar, or a conducted tour of his disparate plots, will immediately confirm these facts. A tasting here is always enjoyable, certainly for the high quality of the wines, but also for the Tardys’ warmth. Powerful bouquets, rich pure flavours and good balance are the hallmarks here. A firm believer in the compatibility of carefully selected fruit and new oak. Elegant and fresh. Very much a fruit-forward wine with a light, elegant raspberry character and slightly nutty quality. The palate is broad and has good concentration, with approachable, chewy, deep-set fruit and rounded tannins. Flavours of game and leather starting to appear with bottle age. Filled out with oak into the finish, this is well-balanced and is very good indeed.
