McHenry Hohnen Shiraz
- Out of stock
This Western Australian winery is the product of collaboration between David Hohnen, the man who founded Cape Mentelle and Cloudy Bay and ran them until 2003 when he retired to pursue smaller scale winemaking back home in Margaret River, and his brother in law and vine grower, Murray McHenry. These days David has handed the winemaking over to ex professional AFL full-back Trent Carroll, who continues to produce low-intervention, beautifully crafted wines that express the best of terroir and variety.
Produced with fruit from carefully selected blocks within McHenry Hohnen's Rocky Road Vineyard, fermented insteel and matured for 9 months in French oak (10% new). This is a creamy-textured Shiraz with an abundance of dark fruit, hints of vanilla and milk-chocolate and an underlayer of pepper and wood-smoke.
