Description

Celebrating the first centenary of Goyenechea, this deep-red wine, with violet and purple highlights has dark fruit notes, and a distinctive smoky touch from oak; 50% of the wine spends 6 months in French barrique and once bottled the wine is cellared at the winery for one year to ensure it is ready to drink when released.

Goyenechea Winery was founded in 1868 by the brothers Santiago and Narciso Goyenechea. These Spanish immigrants commenced their business activity in Argentina by establishing wine and spirits stores in Buenos Aires. Later on they purchased an estate and winery in Villa Atuel, to the south of the Mendoza Province. A few decades later, between 1930 and 1940, the Goyenechea and the Arizu families planted vines and developed the largest vineyard in the world.

Today, the winery is equipped with state-of-the-art technology, which includes stainless-steel tanks, cooling equipment, barrel room, storage room for bottle ageing -all in a temperature-controlled environment. Goyenechea Winery’s output, though smaller in volume in the past, is much more diversified and aimed at high quality production.
