Saumur Cuvée Louis St Croix Brut NV
The town of Saumur lies 40km east of Angers on the southern bank of the river Loire and gives its name to an extensive wine district and several appellations. Saumur is effectively a south western extension of Touraine, yet more a centre for the wine trade of Anjou-Saumur than is Anjou. The grapes grown in these two neighbouring regions are very similar, except that Saumur does not have Anjou's range of potentially great sweet white wines. Made in the same way as champagne, sparkling Saumur is based on the Chenin Blanc grape, noted for its fine acidity, delicate bubbles and full apply and citrus flavours.
