Stanton & Killeen is just a few years older than Campbells having been founded in 1864 by Englishman Timothy Stanton. Of their 300 hectare mixed farm about 30 hectares of the best draining soils are planted to vines. Famed in particular for their fortified wines their Muscats tend to be richer in style than Campbells, showing more intense dried fruit, fig and fruit cake characters. This is partly due to the original vineyards, planted by Jack Stanton in 1921, which are still in production today and produce some of the finest fruit in the region. This is 100% Muscadelle blended in a traditional Solera system of small Oak barrels. Light golden colour with some brown and green tinges. Honey and malt characters on the bouquet mixed with some pleasant wood 'rancio' overtones. Lucious 'honeylike' palate with a dry spirit finish. Excellent after dinner drink, especially with coffee and chocolates. Works well slightly chilled with dried fruit desserts or chocolate flavoured desserts
